Hello, my name is Julian! I am an artist born and raised in Chicago, living in Detroit. My artwork is hand drawn, painted and printed, using ink, watercolor, oil and other traditional media. Some of my primary influences are vintage book illustrations, Japanese prints and late 19th and early 20th century landscape painting. I write and illustrate my own children’s books and have been commissioned to create illustrations for K-12 curricula. I have professional experience in architectural finish-work restoration, including decorative painting and plaster, and wood and metal refinishing. I do interior decorative murals on commission. I have experience working as a print studio and print shop assistant and I create hand carved prints, mostly in wood and linoleum. Whether at home or while travelling, I love capturing the beauty of the world and the colors of landscapes en plein air. I endlessly adore observing and capturing every day life through drawing and painting. I sell pen and ink street art portraits at farm markets and other public places and I do pet portraits too!
